From House Church to Pro-Cathedral: St. Alban’s has been a witness to the ancient and traditional Christian faith for more than 30 years!
Having just celebrated our 30th year of traditional Anglo-Catholic witness in Richmond, our parish was founded by concerned bishops, priests and laity who were unwilling to accept the concept that the Christian Faith could be amended to fit the current social agenda. We rejected the substitution of “relevance” in lieu of faith has caused a major exodus of the faithful from so many denominations, opting instead for a personal encounter with the living God. At St. Alban’s, you have a a parish faimily in which you can learn the classic Christian truths.
Over the years, through the hard work, faith and dedication of its members, St. Alban’s has grown from a small group of worshippers, to a house churh, to a center of Christian faith and learning, music and commuinity in the classical Anglican tradition.
We share a liturgy that that brings a powerful emotional symbolism and energy to the church. In particular, St. Alban’s lives into the rich insights of the Anglican liturgical movement, and the Holy Eucharist is central to our worship. Over time, St. Alban;s has expanded the opportunity to worship with regular Mass on Sundays, Wednesdays and Holidays, spiritual reading, retreats, Sunday Evensong, and daily Morning Prayer in the English Benedictine tradition.
The last several years have seen a recurgence in our men’s and women’s ministries, retreat opportunities. the expansion of Bible studies, and the renewal of our charitable work in such projects as our Food Pantry in cooperation with the Greater Richmond Food Bank. Our future includes the expansion of Christian learning opportunities in the community, particularly to the inquirier or unchurched, and campus ourteach.
With each challenge we have encountered, we became stronger in our faith. We invite you to become a part of the church today and a make history tomorrow.
